TRAINMASTER

The Belt Railway Company of Chicago is currently accepting resumes for a Trainmaster. The successful candidate for this position will effectively manage daily operations and employees in the BRC’s Transportation Department.  The successful candidate will be familiar with Switchman, Locomotive Engineer, and Remote Control Operator duties and three (3) plus years of supervisory experience.  Computer aptitude and reporting skills a must.  Responsibilities include supervising multiple switch crews in daily operations, working classification yard operations, actively monitoring contract employee rules compliance, and communicating with other customer railroads as necessary. SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 5 years of stable employment
• Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
• Previous experience supervising employees in multi-shift 24/7operation preferred
• Knowledge of computer-based reporting and tracking programs preferred   
• PC aptitude (Email, Word, Excel)
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
• Must be able to work variable shifts when position requirements dictate  
• Proven background in management skills self-development preferred

LOCOMOTIVE ELECTRICIAN

The Belt Railway Company of Chicago is currently accepting resumes for Locomotive Electricians. Applicants must be able to regularly work variable shifts, including evenings and weekends.  Applicants must be comfortable working outdoors in variable conditions throughout the year.  High School Degree or equivalent and valid driver’s license is required.  Previous experience with the following duties is preferred:

1. DC control – low voltage (64-74 volts)
2. DC power control high voltage (up to 1,100 volts DC)
3. DC relay control (relay logic)
4. Diesel power plant control (NRE multiple engines, 2,200 volts AC)
5. Ability to lift up to 80 pounds; ability to climb on top of locomotives (15 feet)
6. Experience with large DC motors for traction
7. Large DC generator maintenance (600 nominal volts)
8. Familiar with reading electrical prints
9. Large AC rectifier maintenance
10. Rotating electrical alternator maintenance
11. Familiarity troubleshooting locomotive electrical systems (NRE, EMD, GE); working knowledge of laptop-based computer control systems
12. Insulation resistance testing to 2,500 volts and above if needed
13. Start and Charging work (24-64 volts)
14. Cleaning of Rotating Electrical Equipment with compressed air and solvents
15. Some radio antenna installation and repair
16. Strong mechanical aptitude; ability to work independent of supervision.
