The Belt Railway Company of Chicago has a new management opportunity for a Trainmaster. Prior railroad or logistics supervisory experience is required; related college degree preferred. Railroad experience in Operating Department with 3+ years in a supervisory role is highly preferred. Responsibilities entail supervising multiple switch crews in a union environment in daily operations and overseeing all facets of classification yard operations, including assuring efficient customer service, workplace safety, regulatory and rules compliance, executing operating plans and continuous improvement projects, monitoring and managing costs, and interfacing and working closely with other department officials. Computer aptitude and reporting skills a must. Location is near Midway Airport in a field-based environment, working both indoor and outdoors. Minimum travel. FCC license is preferred. 2-5 years professional experience preferred with repair and installation of electronic equipment, such as camera systems, radios, data transmission and storage devices and phone systems. 3+ years of stable employment experience (full-time equivalent) and HSD or equivalent required.
